College Falafel is family operated by husband and wife team, Bardhyl and Oljana.

Bardhyl graduated from the Food Chemistry and Hospitality Services program at the University of Tirana, Albania in 1986. After graduation Bardhyl worked in Albania managing restaurants. During this part of his career he researched healthy menus, and provided new recipes for the restaurants under his management. Oljana also graduated as a chef in the Culinary College in Tirana, Albania in 1986. She's worked as chef in different restaurants in Albania, Greece, and Canada.

From 1990 till 1997, they teamed up and opened their own restaurant and bakery in Vrina, a village of Saranda district, located in the most southern point of Albania close to the Greek border.

In 2003, Oljana attended George Brown College, and graduated from the Bakery Art program. She very much enjoyed learning how to combine the Mediterranean and Canadian baking techniques.

Together they opened College Falafel in February 2003. The restaurant is a popular spot in Little Italy, and is located at 450 Ossington Avenue at the intersection of College and Ossington in Toronto, Ontario. Oljana is the chef at

Together they continually explore using higher quality foods, and improve the flavour of the food they serve whenever possible. Always concerned with choosing healthy ingredients, and healthy preparation methods they aim to preserve each dishes nutrients. That's why they're menu is rich with vegetables. They stock a wide variety of juices, water and other healthy beverages.


For Bardhyl and Oljana, cooking from scratch is the best way of producing quality dishes. Through the whole process, they put lots of genuine care into running their restaurant. "It's a great satisfaction, when you hear your customer saying 'It was great!','Excellent!', 'I've never had such a great food in my life!'", These expressions motivate Bardhyl and Oljana to up their effort towards perfection with their menu.

Their son, Andi is part of the team as well. He loves cooking, and contributing his business ideas for the restaurant too. Andi is a good student. On weekends you'll find him serving food at the restaurant.
